I hate this cat!!!
If someone ever asks if it can possibly get worse, you tell them yes.
I hated my time with Bubsy 1, that game was torture, one of the worst games I’ve played recently, and it made me afraid to touch the rest in this heinous series. Still, sequels usually improve upon the design issues of the 1st game, after all that’s what a sequel SHOULD DO, so by all logic, the other Bubsy games should be a lot better then the 1st one. Well unfortunately you’d be WRONG!!! This game, this fucking game, this FRACUTURED GAME, is so fucking awful, so evil, I had to force myself to complete it. How did they mess this up? HOW DID THEY MESS UP THIS BAD!!!
I like to do some research into games beforehand, I like to really delve into what made a game happen, so of course I decided to do some research into this furball. The utter shock I had when I found out this game was released TWO MONTHS after the 2nd game was insane. This game was developed at the same time AS THE 2ND FOR SOME REASONS. BY A DIFFERENT TEAM SURE BUT THAT IS SO CONCERNING FOR THE GAMES QUALITY!!! Upon playing the game, I find out all the issues I had in the 1st game are back! Maybe the momentum is better sure, but the way too big sprite size, the enemy placement, the one hit deaths, the sameish levels it is ALL HERE BUT DRAPED IN A FAIRY TALE AESTHETIC FOR SOME REASON??? WHAT???? Where Fractured Furry Tales really falls apart is its level design. Bubsy 1 had some bad level design for sure, but ya know at least it was short, at least I could beat the game in an hour. This game looked at the simple, short, level design of the 1st game, and decided to do the opposite of it. Levels are now insanely long, taking 6-7 minutes to beat, made even worse by the game suddenly deciding to be a maze???? You have to find these switches scattered throughout in order to open various gates, which, combined with how much everything blends together, leads to you getting so lost in the ENTIRE GAME! It felt like it took forever to finish this, I was just in constant pain the whole time, and I knew then and there that these sequels won’t get better. I will suffer. I will be in pain. Bubsy is eternal. God help me.
